DAY 33 on the Camino de Santiago. Today was long.... 28 km/18 miles and I didn’t arrive at our destination till quite late. The morning was super busy with new Pilgrims and I was having a hard time with the crowds, longing for the peace and tranquility of days past. We’ve been starting later in the day (8am) because of the cold, and we don’t have to beat the heat any longer in the afternoon. My pace is probably half as fast in the later part of the day than in the beginning as I tire and the weight of my pack begins to feel heavier. Getting in late leaves little time for rest, shower, dinner and laundry. Tonight we were lucky to use washing machines and dryers because there was no time or sunlight to dry our clothes. Not many Albergues have these. Considering I only have one change of clothes, this is important. However, tonight someone took my travel towel from the dryer. So I have no towel for tomorrow. 😳 Perhaps I’ll find somewhere to buy one. We hope to arrive in Santiago de Compestella by the end of the week. Some of my friends are continuing on to Finnisterre, the town by the ocean. It takes another 4 days. I won’t have time unless I go by bus, and it’s not that important to me right now. I’m just so excited about reaching Santiago, and about going home. And about no longer walking extremely long distances every day. 😊 Buen Camino! ❤️❤️
